Knife stuck in back

Would you know if a 6" knife was in your back?

A man by the name of Yury Lyalin of Moscow Russia had been out drinking with friends after work, went home and everything was good. Then the next day, Yury went over to get some breakfast out of the fridge when his wife noticed the handle of a knife sticking out of his back. (not the one shown) He apparently did not notice the 6" knife in his back when he went to sleep and still didn't notice it when he had awaken the next morning. He was rushed to the hospital and the knife was removed leaving no damage to vital organs. Even though Yury did not think much of it, prosecutors are looking to possibly charge one of his drinking buddies with a crime that could lock him up for up to 8 years in prison.

Mass violence erupts in Sao Paulo

Losing all control

700 inmates of a gang called the First Command of the Capital, or PCC were transferred to a maximum security prison. As a result the gang retaliated by attacking police stations and blowing up buses. About 40 other jails had violent uprisings and only 11 are fully contained with 120 people still being held hostage. The gang also threw Molotov Cocktails at bank branches and going to police stations and opening fire on officers with automatic weapons. About 39 officers and guards were fatally wounded and 38 gunmen declared dead so far. This has been an ongoing war between the State Authorities and the PCC since the gang was originated in 1993. It was reported that in 2003, 50 or more police stations were attacked, but that time there were only 3 fatalities and 12 wounded.

Bush Administration to bring deadly animal disease closer to livestock

Deadly Foot & Mouth Disease to US?

The truth is, is that the US already has a laboratory 100 miles northeast on New York. The Bush administration wants to move it the mainland to one of a few pre-determined spots. There have been satellite images of the prospected places and those photo's show livestock near by the proposed new lab sites.
This can potentially be a very serious problem, according a government simulation called "Crimson Sky" that simulates what would happen if livestock got infected and spread. In one report of the simulation, there would have to be a 25 mile long ditch to bury the dead animals just in Kansas alone. That is just an example of the potential damage something like could happen if it got out. It was assured that they have better security measures to cover all potential problems. I personally don't see why it has to be moved in the first place. I would think that there is a lab out at sea for a reason.

Woman defends her dog the dog way

Woman attacks pit bull with teeth

In Minneapolis, a woman named Amy Rice who saw a pit bull (not the one shown above) jump over her fence and attack her lab/retriever Ella. Amy then bit the pit on the nose and drew some blood in the process. Her dog Ella had to get staples and stitches in her head and also had to recover from a crushed ear canal. You have to admire the courage it took to do such a thing for your animal.

Glowing Cats!

Two cloned cats from South Korea Ministry of Science and Technology

These cats have had their DNA altered to glow under ultraviolet light. This was apparently done by taking a skin cell of a Turkish Angora female cat. Then scientists put a virus that would alter the genetic code to make a red florescent protein. After that, they then put the altered nuclei in to an egg to be cloned. Then the embryos were put back into the Surrogate mother (Turkish Angora Female) and she would then have them by
Cesarean section. (C-Section)

Pirates living amoungst todays civilization?

Pirates of the Gulf of Arden

Yes, it is true! A French yacht that holds 64 passengers was seized in the Gulf of Arden between Somalia and Yemen. (Pictured left) It was reported that 25 other ships have been seized in the same area as well. This is pretty interesting because I would really like to see some modern day pirates and what they look like. Its not like I would want to go for a vacation in Somalia or anything, or probably anyone else for that matter, but Come on, Pirates!?
